Boo at the Zoo

As we have posted before, Jack does not like dressing up for Halloween. We had a serious meltdown when Jack tried on his puppy costume a few weeks ago, so it was returned and Jack picked out a new costume. Super Man! Last Friday night, however, as we prepared him for Boo at the Zoo, a kids trick-or-treat festival at the National Zoo, Jack had another costume meltdown. He did not want to change. He did not want to be in costume. He was not going to be Super Man.

Despite the fact that Jack picked out his Super Man costume, he was not happy about having to put it on. Michael even tried to put it on as best he could to show Jack that it was cool, but he was having none of that.

The costume comes off.

Ultimately, we made it to Boo at the Zoo, but Jack was probably the only kid not in a costume. That was fine though, because he still had fun and it was on his terms. We did not want to force him to wear a costume if he hated it.

This is a penguin selling frozen yogurt outside the zoo. Jack thought he was a duck and quacked at him. A good time was had by all.

Jack was very pleased that an elephant was out in the yard.

Jack became very proficient at saying "Trick or Treat" and "Thank You" as the evening went on. Nice job by his mother practicing with him ahead of time.
