It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas

Maybe it's the season, but it feels like we have been heading to Georgetown quite frequently lately.  Georgetown is beautiful this time of year.  All of the store windows are dressed for the holidays, there are glistening lights strung from the lamp posts and most of the beautiful homes in the neighborhood are decorated with garlands and wreaths.  The only thing missing is Santa!  (A Georgetown Santa should be decked out in the best Santa suit Vineyard Vines and Brooks Brothers can make, hold court at the Four Seasons, pass out Georgetown cupcakes instead of candy canes, and have a knowing smile that Mrs. Clause is waiting at home with a stiff drink at the end of the day.)

But since there is no Santa in Georgetown to visit, we busy ourselves with trips to other places that pass out candy canes and make a child's eyes twinkle with delight.

Our first stop was to Keihl's, where they know us by name.  We are on the salesman's "these people shop here a lot" list, and he doesn't even need to check it twice to know that we have been nice.  Jack got to taste his first candy cane at the store - the start of the evening's sugar rush.

From there we headed to the Apple store, where did you know that they have an entire sleek kid height table covered in iPads with only kid-friendly apps on them?  Jack knows.

And somehow he even found the "Cars" trailer that was loaded on the iPad.  Which we then watched 10 times!  Hey Santa, I think this kid would like an iPad.

The only way I could get Jack to leave the Apple store was with a promise of a cookie.  As soon as I said the word, he ran to his stroller to climb in and head out.  Yes, Jack has a bit of a sweet tooth lately, and because he ate my spinach salad for lunch and consumed 2 packages of apple sauce for a post-nap snack, I figured a little treat was in order.  But I also thought that Jack would forget about the promise of a cookie as soon as we left the store.  Nope, not a chance!  As we headed out into the evening down Wisconsin Ave, and turned onto M Street, all I heard was Jack saying "cookie, cookie" over and over again.  Alas, Georgetown does not have a lot of bakeries.  But it does have a lot of CUPCAKERIES, and that's where we headed.

Yay I'm eating a cupcake!

It's the most wonderful time of the year!
So let the holiday merriment continue!  Our tree is up and becoming more top heavy as Jack keeps bringing me (shatter resistant) ornaments from it that are in his reach, and I reposition them higher up.  We have plans to go see Santa a couple of times.  And at some point, we will even let this little cookie monster make and decorate some cookies.
