Halloween in Bloomingdale!

Ten years ago, when Maria and Michael began dating, the housemates of 1020 South Forest threw a Halloween party.  It was a great party!  Even the cops said so.  Everyone who attended was dressed up, everyone that is except Michael who hates to dress up.  He wore Maria's cowboy hat and called himself an urban cowboy.  Lame.  Amazingly, however, Maria continued to date him.  (Luckily this occurred so long ago that none of the pictures taken were digital and cannot be included on this family-friendly blog).

Jump ahead to present day.  One can say that Jack is just taking after his dad in not enjoying to dress up for Halloween.  But low and behold, what do I see?  Is that a bird? A plane? A great American hero?  Why it's Captain America!

Superman (in Spiderman shoes) and Captain America out trick-or-treating.
Yes, Michael dressed up for Jack this Halloween, and I think his enthusiasm (and a bit of Elmo) made all the difference when putting on Jack's costume.  We all went as super heroes this year, and once Jack put on his Superman costume and realized it made getting candy even easier, he was all for it.

First, we stopped at Marco and Emily's house, our good friends and neighbors.  Jack helped Emily pass out candy and seemed to be especially generous to some of the young ladies who came by, giving them extra handfuls.

He also got to meet Barry the cat, who quickly scampered away, he's no fool.

We then headed to a street festival in our neighborhood.  All of Bloomingdale was out for this event!  There were acrobats, jugglers, stilt walkers and face painters.  There was candy, apples and popcorn.  Any trepidation Jack had was officially gone and fueled by M&M's he became a party animal.

Captain America and Superman with acrobats.
There was even a New Orleans style brass band playing.  Jack became a dancing freak.

Jack dances so fast as Superman you can barely see him!

Superman and Supermom!  Someone has to hold Superman when he starts to get tired... and that someone is Supermom!

Wow, Beetlejuice is tall!
We didn't really know what to expect this Halloween with Jack, he's still young enough to not really get what all of the hoopla is about.  I think because our expectations were so low and we set out to ensure he had as much fun as possible (costumed or not) he had a great time.  Also, we gave him M&Ms, and I think that helped.
