Visit to the Botanical Gardens and Museum of the American Indian

Jack was back to his adventure going ways this morning with a trip to the National Botanical Gardens and the Museum of the American Indian.

The Botanical Gardens has always been one of Maria's favorite places in the city since she was an intern.  This was Jack's first visit, and I can't believe it took us this long to go.  We explored the grounds first around the main building.

Jack originally started to climb up on the John Deere tractor, but then before Maria could get the camera out, he decided to walk on and see what else was out there.  This kid does love his trucks.

The Botanical Gardens boasts a Kid's Garden, where kids can dig in the dirt, water the plants and "gently" touch all of the plants around them.  And by "gently", Jack ripped the head off a flower to sniff it and boldly grabbed another plant's leaves.  There are hardy plants in the Kid's Garden.

Following our trip to the Botanical Gardens, both Mom and Jack were hungry.  We decided to head across the street to the Museum of the American Indian because it has one of the best cafeterias in town.  No seriously.  We stuck to the more pedestrian offerings of chicken tacos, chips and guacamole and rice and beans, but everything looked good.

Then it was off to the third floor's imagiNATION Activity Center.  There are tons of activities for all kids, and this is probably the best part of the museum.  Jack was having so much fun that when it was time to leave he started to scream one of those blood curdling screams where I afraid someone was going to think I was trying to kidnap my own child.

Look at me, Mom!  (Jack happy prior to departing from the Museum)
