Abuela

Across the park behind our house lives an very kind woman affectionately know by many in the neighborhood as Abuela, which is Spanish for "grandmother." She does not speak a word of English, but her heart is clearly pure gold. 

When Abuela sees Jack in the park, she often comes out to play with him. She'll call to him from across the park in Spanish, and Jack will shout back in Jack and then run to her for a hug (and Skylos will join for a belly rub). Abuela is one of the many reasons why we love our new home and neighborhood in Bloomingdale.

Jack often shows Abuela flowers, grass and other vegetation and she teaches him the words in Spanish.
