Both of Maria’s parents were able to do some creative scheduling and both found themselves in DC today and were able to come to the hospital to meet Jack.
Maria’s mother, Evey, Jack’s Yiayia (Greek for “grandmother”) is a high school music teacher and planned a school trip to DC right around the time of Maria’s due date. Not a coincidence. So today she arrived in DC with her kids and had some downtime and made it over to hospital in the afternoon for a few hours. Yiayia and Jack became good friends fast, and Yiayia helped feed Jack twice.
Maria’s father, Basil, Jack’s Papou (Greek for “grandfather”) is in DC for a celebration with President Obama at the White House tomorrow for Greek Independence Day. Since Jack was a week early, Papou was able to change his flight to arrive earlier than planned and made it over this evening to meet Jack.
Jack cannot wait to meet all the rest of his grandparents and family. He is a lucky guy to have so many people who love him.
